Asian Futures Event

The first of many future events. We dive into the discussion of being Asian Australian what have we learnt so far and what more we have to learn.

July 15, 2021

Scoopy was borne in part out of the confidence we had seeing the success of those who looked like us in mainstream media (Crazy Rich Asians and the Subtle Asian Traits Facebook Page). Knowing the power and effect representation has, we wanted to be part of the change to further Asian Australian representation in the community.

The Asian Futures event came to life after aligning this vision for the community with the As I Am podcast duo Jeffrey Zhao and Isabella Le. Check our their podcast here:        https://www.asiam.me/episodes

The event centred around the 'Future of the Asian-Australian Identity' and featured the prominent voices of Jieh-Yung Lo (Director, Centre for Asian-Australian leadership at the Australian National University), Yasmin Poole (Youth Advocate) and Philip Le Liu (City of Melbourne Councillor).

Amongst the wide ranging discussions on the different ways we could move toward more Asian-Australian representation, Scoopy also had the pleasure of showcasing some of our unreleased flavours like Lychee, Banana Milk and Biscoff.

Suprisingly or unsuprisingly, the event sold out, giving us a lot of hope for Asian Futures events going forward. Keep an eye out for these events in 2022 and beyond!
